~Stamped Encaustic Wax Art How-To~

How to Stamp with Encaustic Wax - A wonderful technique that
will give your Rubber Stamping a "High Art" form.

The combination of Rubber Stamping and painting with Encaustic Wax  is a harmonious, exciting artistic avenue that will offer you more control over the impression which an image can make. There are many different approaches to Wax Stamping. Two of the most popular methods are demonstrated below:

Method # 1: Stamping Directly to Paper to create a Tree Card

Prepare a clean card
and heat your iron to start.

Select the stamp you wish to use
for the image on your painting.
Rub selected colored markers over
the various parts of the stamp.
To imprint the image, firmly
press the stamp onto the paper.

The colored stamped image
will transfer to the paper
To duplicate the image on
the paper, repeat the steps.

You may repeat the image on the paper
or add images from other stamps.

When you have stamped all of the
images, you are ready for wax.
Rub a thin layer of clear wax on
the surface of your hot iron.
"Iron" the clear wax onto the
images on the paper to seal them.

Melt desired wax colors on the hot
iron to add colors to your images.
Very quickly the card has many colors
and textures of wax design & dimension
Using the edges of the iron
melt swirls and other details.

Clean your iron on paper towels
before adding details or colors..
The iron tip offers a finer
and more detailed tool.
Achieve more details by melting
and moving the wax where desired.

Rub surface of painting with soft
tissue to blend and seal wax.
Your stamped wax painting is now
ready to frame or send as a card.
Within minutes your Rubber Stamped Encaustic Wax Art masterpiece is ready to share.

Method # 2: Stamping to Paper with Wax to create a Tree Card

Heat a clean card by placing
directly on the heated iron.

Melt wax onto the "palette"
as you hold it on the hot iron.
Melt wax colors onto the "palette"
where the stamp will touch them.
Line the stamp up to the colors
you wish to transfer to the card.

Press the rubber stamp into
the hot wax to color the stamp.
Heat a fresh card on the iron
to receive the wax impression.
Transfer the heated wax from
the stamp to the fresh card.

Repeat process to transfer more
stamped wax images to the card
The stamp, stamped card, and
palette card all contain wax now.
You may cut sections from the
palette to add 3D effects.

Cut around the heavy wax
to add a new dimension..
Attach the wax tree top
to your painting for drama.
You may also use ink pads to
transfer ink images to your cards.
Clean stamp by heating rubber
and wiping on paper towels.
Heat and wipe the stamp on
paper towels until it is clean.
